Where It All Started - A Coffee Table Book
I had just finished writing my first novel, and it sat marinating at a single bookstore in the mall, graciously taken on consignment in support of local authors. Amongst all the John Grishams, Steinbecks, Harper Lees, Amy Tans, and all the other wonderful storytellers, this little nobody had the audacity and vanity to ask for a place anywhere in their vicinity.
From behind a pillar, I could spot a few congenial glances from passersby at the book. Surely, it was time to write another story.
Let’s see. One page a day for 365 days would equal a full-length, publishable book, right? Not entirely. Once the word vomit is out, it’s time for four rounds of revisions, rewrites, and story restructuring, all the while allowing the soul to segue through the pages, conveying something of value to the reader in exchange for the fleeting time they have given the author.
If you think about it, there’s little that carries as much magnitude as being a novelist. One reader or four hundred or, if you’re lucky, a million readers - they each carve out a portion of their God-granted time and give it to you. With a full-time job behind a desk in a cosmopolitan city, however, the inkling to begin a second story was bleak. I wanted to tell stories so badly that almost any form would do, just as long as something was being produced.
As providence would have it, a few rightly timed instances and conversations diverted my river of thoughts towards creating a shoe brand. Here’s what led to it: A typewriter gifted to me by my girlfriend. A conversation with a colleague about my leather boots. An insatiable curiosity to make something tangible. And an Annie Leibovitz coffee-table book. In this photobook, you’ll see how everything came together. It was slow but consistent: CAD drawings; a factory owner displeasingly agreeing to build a custom build and complained about the last (shoe mould). It all came together from nothing more than a simple computer mock-up, without an MOQ or an IOU; great friends; and angelic models. Somehow, all of it became Baga Baga. Go forth. Our Origins
Germinating from the idea that confidence derives its faculty from attire, Baga Baga set out to become a statement piece, peaking out under well-fitted denim jeans. So, ostensibly, our shoes aim to evolve your personality. Following the iconography of what once was, our canvas on canvas bring out a degree of pomp. The debut boots collection and its offspring, the penny loafers, are blended in form, wearability, and remarkable quality.

What's BB?
It is attributed to our hubris that we present Baga Baga as more than just woven hemp fabric domiciled on a rubber sole thats lightweight and breathable. The brand’s longevity comes from the repeated mitosis of communities across cities, where our shoes compliment the artistic fraternities, giving the wearer a chic boost, catalysing their confidence. Simply put, we throw a pair of shoes into your character development.
